In 1928, Johnny Mack Brown and Joan Crawford danced under the newly perfected tungsten lamp in the flapper classic Our Dancing Daughters. Tungsten filaments, invented in 1903, allowed for brighter and longer-lasting bulbs perfect for illuminating Hollywood's newfound starlets.
