Genesis, Then
Founded in the 1960s, Genesis evolved from a simple pop group to one of rock's premiere progressive-rock bands, performing complex songs in concerts with elaborate costumes and stage designs. Among its most noted creations is the 1974 concept album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway , which the group performed live in its entirety 102 times. It was during these performances that Genesis pioneered the use of lasers and other light effects. It is among the top-selling groups of all time, with approximately 150 million albums sold worldwide. The lineup above consisted of, from left, Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel.
