Though the Beatles had been recording at Abbey Road for many years,
nothing solidified the studio's fame more than the group's decision to
name their second-to-last last release after the place where it was
made. The album Abbey Road is considered one of the group's masterpieces and frequently lands on lists of the greatest albums ever made, while its cover photo of George, a barefoot Paul, Ringo and John crossing the street in front of the building, has become one of the world's most recognizable images.
