A century after its inception, the Boy Scouts of America, one of the largest youth organizations, maintains its relevance despite the challenge of membership decline

One of the many skills originally taught by the BSA is signaling. Scouts were taught many different forms of signaling, including Morse code, hand signals and semaphore, until 1992, when the merit badge for that skill was discontinued. To mark the centennial celebration, the organization has reinstated the badge for 2010.
