A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Jan. 12 causing systemic damage to the nation's capital Port-au-Prince and immeasurable loss of life. The fallout of this natural disaster is widespread, affecting as much as a third of the Caribbean nation's population, or roughly 2 million people.
