Thanks in large part to the Gateses' joint venture with the GAVI Alliance, approximately 250 million children in the developing world have received vaccinations for diseases such as tetanus, hepatitis B and yellow fever. The Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation's manufacturing plant, paid for in part by the Gateses, will be capable of producing 200 million doses of a new TB vaccine. One ambitious goal of the foundation is to wipe polio off the face of the earth.
