Protesters in Tehran shouted slogans like "Death to the dictator!" and "This is the month of blood — Yazid will fall!," metaphorically comparing Ayatullah Ali Khamenei with the 7th century leader who ordered the death of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson Hussein, whose martyrdom is celebrated on Ashura.
