Although Montazeri was isolated from the opposition in his old age, his death may help to reinvigorate the movement. "He died at exactly the right time," said Rasool Nafisi, an Iran expert at Virginia's Strayer University. "He will be revered for his courage, and his example is likely to restore some of the clergy's prestige."
