Once again, a coal ash pile in southwestern Pennsylvania served as an effective location for The Road. "This was a frightening place, well off of any real roads," says Ullman. "There was a deer carcass hanging between two trailers nearby, and let's just say there wasn't a welcome mat outside the front door. I'm a pretty big guy and I didn't go near it."
