At the Enemy's Gate: Pablo and Juan Pablo
In 1982 Escobar, already a power in the cocaine industry, was elected to Colombia's congress, from which he helped undo an extradition treaty with the U.S. Around that time, he visited Washington with Juan Pablo. More than a decade later, Juan Pablo, 16, would be on the phone with his father long enough for the Colombian police to trace the call, track the fugitive drug lord down and kill him. When the teenager heard the news, he cried, "If it's true, I'll kill all the sons of bitches!" But he almost immediately repented his words. Now he is seeking reconciliation and forgiveness from the families of his father's victims.
