Reaffirming the Alliance with Britain
Obama chats with U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London. Allaying speculation that ties had diminished, the President said in March 2009, "Great Britain is one of our closest, strongest allies, and there is a link, a bond there that will not break. And I think that's true not only on the economic front but also on issues of common security." He added, "And by the way, [Britain is] also where my mother's side of my family came from."
