Could this be some 7th century treasure of Mercian kings? Many items are related to warfare, with numerous sword hilts and battle trophies. There's a male dominance to the hoard, as Kevin Leahy, an expert on Anglo-Saxon metal, explained. "There is absolutely nothing feminine. There are no dress fittings, brooches or pendants. The vast majority of items in the hoard are martial — war gear, especially sword fittings."
