Could this be some 7th century treasure of Mercian kings? Many items are related to warfare, with numerous sword hilts and battle trophies. There's a male dominance to the hoard, as Kevin Leahy, an expert on Anglo-Saxon metal, explained. "There is absolutely nothing feminine. There are no dress fittings, brooches or pendants. The vast majority of items in the hoard are martial war gear, especially sword fittings."
