Harris began his career in acting at the age of 15, when he was spotted by playwright Mark Medoff, who cast him in the Whoopi Goldberg feature Clara's Heart. A little more than a year later, he landed his first leading role, in the television series Doogie Howser, M.D., above. Both roles earned him Golden Globe nominations.
