Robert Francis Kennedy, 1925-1968
A close adviser to JFK during John's presidential campaign, Bobby was appointed U.S. Attorney General by his brother, and went on to serve under LBJ as well. During a term that lasted from 1961 to 1964, he championed civil rights and fought corruption in labor unions. He too cast his eye on the presidency, only to be felled by an assassin's bullet on the night he won the California Democratic primary, in 1968.
