Haji's son was arrested when he was discovered guarding a courtyard which contained several hundred light arms. Nasrat has said that he was detained because of ethnic animosity. He and his father are Pashtun; the men who denounced them to the Americans were Tajik. Repatriated in 2007, he says that he was "kept like an animal" during his time in detention.
