Stephenson believes she can improve Daniel's behavior, though his progress is greatly hindered by the lack of services he got as a young child. Two years ago, she received funding from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services' Home and Community-based Services Program, which allowed her to become Daniel's caregiver full time. She homeschools Daniel with the help of volunteers in the local community and sends him to a speech therapist.
