An Iranian cleric combs his beard as he waits with others to vote. Iran is ruled under a system called Velayat-e Faqih, or "Rule by the Supreme Jurist," who is currently Ayatullah Ali Khamenei. But the constitution also stipulates that the people are the source of power, so Iran holds presidential and parliamentary elections every four years.
