Portrait of John Paul II
During his career, Giansanti created a vast portfolio of the Polish Pontiff. This 1986 portrait appeared on the cover of TIME twice: once as the basis of an illustration when John Paul II was selected as the magazine's Person of the Year in 1994, and again in 2005 when he died.
