The collection, gathered over 40 years, mixed styles and epochs. Bergé said that he and Saint Laurent always sought the highest quality and "works that are on speaking terms with each other." The proceeds from the sale are destined for AIDS research and a museum dedicated to the work of Saint Laurent.
