The Stooges
Heralds of the punk rock revolution, the Stooges, fronted by Iggy Pop (at the bottom of the group shot above) formed in the late 1960s in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Neither prolific nor commercially successful, the original incarnation of the band was nevertheless hugely influential, producing a raw sound that was channeled by the punks of the seventies and the grunge rockers of the nineties.
