Cancer Survivors' Inspirational Stories

Hodgkins and ovarian cancer

Betty Shock, 40 and neighbor Kim Burns, 38
Types of Cancer: Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma (Betty) and Ovarian (Kim)
Diagnosed: September 2003 and February 2003
Betty: "I have worn the same LIVESTRONG bracelet for the past four years and am proud to talk about my disease to anyone who will listen. This fall I will run the Baltimore Half Marathon with the Leukemia Society to celebrate my five years of beating cancer."

Kim: "We know so many people with cancer. Once the word cancer enters your life it is always there. But from that single word, a network is developed. At first it is your support network, then after treatment you become a survivor who supports others. It fills my heart with such gratitude and faith to be able to help others. I know so many who were diagnosed. Some are currently cancer-free and living wonderful lives while others are still battling. Unfortunately, we have also lost some loved ones."
