The observation post at the forward operating base overlooks the area controlled by the Taliban. The village on the far side of the river is empty. Despite D Company's success at protecting the dam, progress in Kajaki is fragile. As long as fear of the Taliban is stronger than a desire for reconstruction and development, securing Helmand Province will remain an uphill battle.
