Sharpton Joins Critical Mass
The Reverend Al Sharpton joins New York City’s "Critical Mass," a loosely organized monthly bike ride promoting alternative forms of transportation. Sharpton joined the ride to highlight what he calls "common pattern of NYPD harassment." Though similar rides take place all over the world, New York City’s version has become increasingly perceived as a mass protest after hundred of riders were arrested during the city’s 2004 Republican National Convention.
