A Swiss architect who once worked with Le Corbusier, Frey brought a relaxed version of Corbusian Modernism to Palm Springs, especially in the boom years that followed World War II. For this, the first of two houses he built there for himself, he suspended the surface of the dining table, at right, from cables attached to the ceiling.
