The Spirit of Freedom
In 2002, Fossett set out from Northam, Western Australia, in this balloon for his sixth attempt to become the first person to circumnavigate the globe alone, nonstop, in a balloon. A little over 13 days later, he returned successfully to Australia, setting a number of records for ballooning in the process.
