First Big Act
After receiving positive reviews for Halls of Anger, Bridges was cast in his first major role, as Duane Jackson in Peter Bogdanovich's The Last Picture Show (above, with Cybill Shepherd). The 1971 film won two Academy Awards and was nominated for eight, including a nomination for Bridges as Best Supporting Actor.
