In the first Star Wars, Leia fought bravely alongside cowboy spaceship commander Han (Harrison Ford) and the Jedi-knight-in-training Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). For most of the film, she is clad in flowing white robes, her most notable physical attribute was distinctive coiled braids she wore over her ears. Audiences were thus knocked over when, in the series' second installment, The Empire Strikes Back, she appeared in a gold bikini, a love slave to the evil Jabba the Hutt.
