Maxwell ended up laying low for nearly 7 years. In 2008, he performed Al Green's "Simply Beautiful" at the BET Awards and on July 7, 2009 released his newest album, BLACKsummers'night. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Albums Top 200 chart, his second album to achieve that feat.
