Ozzy Osbourne Looks Back

Gary Gershoff / Retna

Flare for the Dramatic
One of Ozzy's recruits was the extraordinarily talented guitarist Randy Rhoads, shown above at right. They recorded Ozzy's first solo album and hit the road for a raucous tour that became heavy-metal history. At a meeting with CBS Records to finalize his record deal, Ozzy made a scene. "I was very drunk and very stoned," he recalls, "and my wife told me to go in the room and throw these two [expletive] doves in the air as a peace offering. I threw one up and bit the other's head off and threw it on the table. I was banned from my own record company."
