Raised in New York City housing projects, Morgan overcame numerous real-life challenges — a brother with cerebral palsy, a drug-addicted father and a pregnant high school girlfriend — to pursue a career in comedy. He has said that his sense of humor insulated him; that if he hadn't protected himself, "(He)'d be dead; my heart would be broken and I would die." His skill and determination brought him from the comedy clubs of Harlem to a spot on Martin Lawrence's sitcom Martin and upward to a spot on Saturday Night Live, where he brought his skills to skits like "White Men Black Women", above.
