In 2009, ElBaradei stepped down from the leadership of the IAEA. During a speech at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in April, he joked that he was "looking for a job". During the speech he also said that he hoped to become an "agent of change and an advocate for democracy" within Egyptian politics.
