Finding a Cure
In 1990, Fox began showing symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Since publicly speaking about his diagnosis in 1998, he has committed himself to raising money to fund research to find a cure for the disease. He has also spoken frequently of the importance of exploring stem cell research as an avenue to a cure. In 2000, Fox and Mary Tyler Moore, right, testified before the U.S. Senate during a hearing on the value of that value of that research.
