Are Breast Implants Safe?
NEW ORLEANS: The first class-action lawsuit by 1,800 women against Dow Chemical owner of now-bankrupt silicon implant manufacturer Dow Corning
finally went to a state jury yesterday. The women are seeking unspecified damages, claiming Dow hid evidence of the dangers of silicon breast implants that gave them immune system-related aches and pains. Dow says it never tested for such dangers and cites many independent studies indicating
the implants are harmless. But juries tend to side with plaintiff Davids against corporate Goliaths.
