VERDICT IN THE SUBWAY SLAYING

A jury convicted three men of knifing a Utah tourist to death in a New York City subway station. The 1990 murder of young Brian Watkins became a painful symbol of random urban violence. Watkins died attempting to protect his family from robbers.
