Burleigh Grimes, 92, Hall of Fame pitcher for several National League teams between 1916 and 1934 and 20-game winner for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers, who became the last man legally to throw a spitball in a major league game; of cancer; in Clear Lake, Wis. The spitball was outlawed in 1920, but a grandfather clause allowed 17 known practitioners to use the trick pitch until they retired.
