The 10,766-ton container ship Mayaguez, object of a dramatic show of force when it was captured by Cambodian Communists and then liberated by the U.S. Marines in May of 1975, will soon be auctioned for scrap. Its owners, Sea-Land Service Inc., said the 35-year-old vessel was “too old to be efficient.”
