4) Syracuse (5-0)—crushed West Virginia, 44-0 (see above).
5) Mississippi (6-0)—drubbed tough Arkansas, 28-0, as Charlie Flowers scored twice to boost his All-America candidacy.
6) Texas (6-0)—continued to show solid power while trimming Rice, 28-6.
7) Wisconsin (4-1)—with rugged Tackle Danny Lamphear having a field day in the opposition’s backfield, beat Ohio State at its own muscle game. 12-3.
8) Purdue (3-1-1)—threw in fresh platoons all afternoon long to overpower Iowa in the mud, 14-7.
9) Auburn (4-1)—rattled Miami by passing for a 78-yd. touchdown on the first play, rolled on to win, 21-6.
10) Penn State (6-0)—clearly outplayed formidable Illinois, 20-9, behind versatile Quarterback Richie Lucas.
