National Affairs: No Trick, No Vic

Washington's Lieutenant Governor Victor Aloysius Meyers, ex-bandleader who once campaigned wrapped in a sheet with a goat at his side (TIME, March 18), got the voters' comments on his latter-day habiliments of dullness and dignity. Dull & dignified William F. Devin, incumbent, beat Vic's striped pants off-in an election to decide which would be Seattle's next Mayor. The score: Devin, 70,498; Vic, 54,517.
