Indians hired to give frontier flavor to the Calgary Stampede (TIME, July 21) are paid on a graduated scale for all services rendered: $5 to a chief, $3 to a sub-chief, $1 to every brave, squaw and papoose for each parade; $5 for the best-dressed buck and squaw; $2 to $7 for each Indian race.
