AUSTRALIA: Curtin Up

Dour-lipped Prime Minister John Curtin rode a Parliamentary bucking horse through the first 23 months of Australia's wartime Labor Government. The Opposition barked at his heels like Kelpie dogs, while the man-in-the-saddle sought to build up his country's war contributions and at the same time justify his actions to the trades unions who had put him up.
