Cinema: Dancers Wanted

With Show Boat and Caruso piling up record grosses across the nation, Hollywood's moviemakers are scrambling to get aboard the new bandwagon. By the end of this year the major studios alone will have produced 39 musicals (16 more than last year), plus a dozen more pictures with a yeasty leavening of singing and dancing. Among them: An American in Paris (with music from George Gershwin's suite of the same name), Texas Carnival, Belle of New York.
