Cinema: Conflicting Report Cards

Hollywood, which wants to please everybody, and usually tries, might well have felt discouraged last week.

The annual report of the Roman Catholic Legion of Decency found "morally objectionable" films in 1949 at an alltime high: 19% of the U.S. movie output. The annual report of the Protestant Motion Picture Council found that "Hollywood turned out more films in 1949 suitable for general family entertainment than in any previous year."
