Education: No Future?

The shortage of teachers is not just a problem of the day; tomorrow's children will feel it too.

¶ Of 250 freshmen who registered last week at Eastern New Mexico College, only a dozen picked education courses.

¶ Only 10% of the new students at San Diego State College and less than half at Milwaukee's State Teachers College* were enrolling for teacher-training. A survey of 20 states showed 55.4% fewer teachers in training than five years ago.
