Henry J. Kaiser is now 1) building ships; 2) making dive-bombers and fighters; 3) producing steel; 4) digging coal; 5) making magnesium. He has at various times promised to get really busy after the war, when he expects to start turning out: 1) helicopters; 2) lightweight, high-powered, low-priced automobiles; 3) pre-fabricated houses. Last week he added a new promise: to build lightweight passenger and freight cars. Said he: “We agree that our railroads must be rebuilt after the war, that millions of shipyard workers must have jobs. This will do both.”
