After a summer which, for the nine teams in the National Hockey League, has been the busiest in ten years, hockey followers saw the new season start in three cities last week.

Rules. Major rule change this year is a penalty shot, from a circle 38 ft. from the goal, awarded to a team when the referee finds its opponents guilty of tripping or otherwise fouling a player in on the goal.
