Radio: Blab-Off

In Cincinnati, Audio Controls Corp. offered a gadget to throttle TV commercials. Named Blab-Off, the device is a simple, remote-control sound switch, advertised to eliminate the "long, loud, vulgar, boring commercials that force their way into your living room." While the advertising spiel goes off, the TV picture stays on, so that viewers can tell when the commercial is over and switch the sound on again. Price: $2.98. Advertisements for Blab-Off have been refused by The New Yorker Magazine, the New York Times and the Herald Tribune, possibly because the sales pitch was right up there with the longest, loudest commercials...
