Although the U.S. aircraft industry's net profit margin is only 2.2% on the sales dollar, military orders have boosted production so high that last week three companies reported their highest peacetime earnings in history:
¶Boeing, on a $739 million gross for 1952 (v. $337 million for 1951), netted $14 million, double its 1951 earnings.
