Inside a black-bordered box were listed 74 “organizations appearing in House and Senate committee records as favoring ‘civil rights’ and anti-South force legislation during 1957 and 1959.” Among them: Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, American Veterans Committee, Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, N.A.A.C.P., Catholic Interracial Council, the Protestant Episcopal Church, Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World, the Methodist Church, United Automobile Workers, and Young Women’s Christian Association.
Also included for good measure: the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Department of the Air Force, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, Department of the Treasury.
