When Multimillionaire Financier John Hay ("Jock") Whitney, 54, U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James's, bought the faltering New York Herald Tribune (circ. 377,400) from the Reid family last summer (TIME, Sept. 8), one of the main questions left unanswered was the future of boyish Ogden ("Brown") Reid, the paper's 33-year-old publisher and editor.
