Listed in an Admiralty announcement last week were 13 more Axis vessels bagged by British submarines in the Mediterranean: a 7,000-ton armed merchant cruiser, two naval auxiliaries, two supply ships, eight cargo craft. Hits were made on an Italian destroyer, three tankers and two supply ships. One submarine surfaced and shelled the Italian radio location station on Salina Island in the Lipari group.
Total British submarine score in the Mediterranean since Dunkirk: sunk— 53 warships, 406 supply ships; probably sunk— 14 warships, 64 supply ships.
